10th GST Council Meeting held on 18th February, 2017 at Udaipur, Rajasthan

With series of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) meetings, the 10th GST Council Meetings held in Udaipur, Rajasthan abstract is as below:
1: A freeway has been given by the GST Council to the Central GST, States GST and Compensation GST, with some of the remaining technicalities about the same to be systematized.
2: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said "It was crucial that the enabling laws for GST are passed in second half of Budget Session to ensure its rollout from 1st July 2017."
3: The Council beckoned to anti-profiteering clause which explains that it does not mean to burden the end consumers with an over-rated GST.
4: Finance Minister said certain vexed issues came forward during the legal drafting of the CGST, SGST and IGST laws and all such issues were necessary to be placed before the Council. Once the bills are cleared by the Council, the next stage shall be to fit the items into the already discussed various slabs.
5: Arun Jaitley further added “CAG is already empowered under the CAG Act to call for any information from the government in relation to public finances. Under the taxation law, it need not be separately given. The income tax act has not given any separate powers to CAG. Why should there be any separate powers under the indirect tax act?”
