9th GST Council Meeting held on 16th January, 2017 in New Delhi
With series of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) meetings, the 9th GST Council Meetings abstract is as below:
1: The most awaited vexed Issue of "Dual Control" have been concluded.
2: The evaluation and administration of 90% of the assesses with an annual turnover of INR 15 Million or less will be done by the State Government.
3: The Centre will be holding the control for the remaining 10% with an annual turnover of 15 Million or less.
4: Moreover, the Centre and the State will be bound to share the liability to control and administer the assesses with an annual turnover of more than INR 15 Million in a 50:50 Ratio.
5: The power to levy tax in respect to the economic activity within 12 nautical miles of territorial waters shall be owned by the State.
6: Finance Minister said "The power to levy and collect Integrated-GST, a tax on inter-state movement of goods and services, will lie with the Centre but by special provisions in law, states will also be cross-empowered".
7: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley even said that for the Introduction of GST 1st . July. 2017 shall be a more pragmatic date instead of the earlier targeted date 1st . April . 2017.
