26th GST Council Meeting held on 10th March 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi
With the series of GST Meetings, the 26th GST Council Meeting held in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The Abstract of the awaited Meeting is as below:
1: The GST Council has decided to extend GSTR 3B Return Filing upto 30th. June. 2018.
2. A new Return Filing Model was discussed extensively and the Group of Ministers (GoM) on IT have been asked to finalise the same.
3. A further tax exemptions have been provided on imported goods or a further six months which is beyond 31st March.
4. The electronic way or e-way bill for movement of goods between states will be implemented from April 1. However, for intra-state movement, the e-way bill would be rolled out in a phased manner starting April 15, and will cover all the states by June 1.
5. Reverse Charge Mechanism has been deferred till June 30. In the meantime, a Group of Ministers will look into the modalities of its implementation to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the trade and industry.
6: The provisions for deduction of tax at source (TDS) under Section 51 of the CGST Act and collection of tax at source (TCS) under Section 52 of the CGST Act shall remain suspended till 30.June.2018.
7: Another major recommendation of the GST Council was relating to Grievance Redressal Mechanism.The GST Council in its 26th Meeting today tasked the GST implementation Committee (GIC) with the work of redressing the grievances caused to the taxpayers arising-out of IT glitch.
8: E-Wallet Scheme has been introduced which is basically the creation of Electronic e-Wallets, which would be credited with notional or virtual currency by the DGFT. This notional / virtual currency would be used by the exporters to make the payment of GST/ IGST on the goods imported/ procured by them so their funds are not blocked. The GST Council has decided to implement e-wallets as a permanent solution for easing the GST refunds process and compliance for exporters, expected to be implemented from 1.10.2018.
