16th GST Council Meeting held on 11th june, 2017 at Vigyan Bhavan,New Delhi

With the series of GST Meetings, the 16th GST Council Meeting held in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The abstract of the meeting is as below:
1: The GST Council has given a green flag to the GST Registration Rules during the said meeting.
2: The limit for the Composition Scheme has been increased to Rs. 75000 from Rs. 50000 for Traders, Manufacturers and Restaurants.
3: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, "The 133 representations received were considered at length  and the officers' committee made their recommendations. The Council has reduced tax in 66 out of the 133 cases".
4: Certain rates of the items have been revised, some of which are as below:
a) Movie Tickets which are costing upto Rs. 100 and below will attract 18% Tax Rate against the earlier Proposed rate of 28%. While tickets which are beyond Rs. 100 shall continue to attract 28%.
b) Packaged Foods shall attract 12% GST Tax rate, against the earlier proposed rate of 18%.
c) Rates of Cashews Nuts and raisins have also been rduced to 5% against the proposed 12%.
d) The rates of the Postage Revenue Stamps, Stamp-Post Marks have been reduced to 12% Slab Rate against the proposed rate of 5%.
